Abstract
Ileosigmoid knotting is one of very rare diseases in our country but it has been more commonly-reported in some geographic area such as Finland, Russia and Africa.
InIleosigmoidtestinal knot formation was first described by Riverius in 16 th century, and Kallio reviewed the world literature in 1932 and found a total of 161 cases of intestinal knots, 85% were ileosigmoid type.
One of the characteristic findings of this disease is that a more extended pathologic change developed even though a shorter duration of syndrome.
Diagnosis is made by X-ray study, during operation or only at autopsy.
Two cases of ileosigmoid knotting were treated surgically at Busan National University Hospital.
